The OpportunityWSDOT is currently seeking a motivated and hard-working individual to join the Eastern Region Maintenance Crew in Ritzville, WA. The Highway Maintenance Worker 3 will need to be able to hit the ground running and lead an experienced team of Maintenance professionals responsible for performing a variety of daily activities such as heavy equipment operations, providing roadway maintenance for sub-sections of highways, and performing snow and ice removal functions. In this role, you will operate a wide variety of highway equipment and tools to maintain and repair highways and highway structures. The successful candidate will be responsible for displaying a strong ability to work under pressure in demanding conditions, ensuring timely completion of required documents, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.What to ExpectThis position performs work that is often physical in nature and performed primarily outdoors, often next to high-volume, high-speed traffic. This position requires the ability to respond to emergency situations in all weather conditions; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, alone or a part of a team as needed. Rotational night shift work is required. Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Highway Maintenance Worker 3 will:

Assist the Maintenance Supervisor by coordinating and overseeing staff to perform essential roadway maintenance operations.
Prioritize and schedule personnel and equipment.
Maintain and submit daily records and reports of maintenance activities.
Lead and perform such work as inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining culverts, catch basins, and ditches; asphalt repairs of roadways; repairing guardrail and roadway surfaces; blading shoulders and removing debris; plowing snow and sanding/de-icing roads; and cutting brush.
Complete third-party damage reports and prepare cost estimates.
Train others in equipment usage, safety, highway maintenance, and public relations.
Safely provide proper traffic control supervision for all work operations and emergency road closures.
Patrol and inspect assigned highway and right of ways, documenting deficiencies of the roadway.
Lead crew during winter snow and ice operations.
Steward safety programs by knowing and enforcing the established WSDOT/WAC safety policies and procedures; conduct safety meetings.
Perform maintenance and minor repair on equipment and hand tools. QualificationsTo be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
One (1) year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker 2, Maintenance Specialist 3, Bridge Maintenance Technician 2, or equivalent combination of experience.
A Class A CDL (without restrictions) with endorsement N and a valid medial card.
A valid Traffic Control/Flagging card.
Skills and experience to communicate effectively with diverse groups utilizing oral, written, and electronic communication methods.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and perform emergency call-outs/stand-by.
Ability to report in service to assigned duty station, within 45 minutes of an after-hours call.
Ability to manipulate and transport objects weighing up to
