Job Description:
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor(s)/administrator(s), provides social work services to District students in District operated; assessments, psychological related services, coordination of services and/or case management to eligible students in the District; may provide educational consultation services to school staff; and perform related work as assigned. Support district in determining eligibility for services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides social work counseling to students and parents
- Provides psycho-social assessment and diagnosis of behavioral disabilities with recommendations and/or environmental manipulations at the school, home, and/or in the community with periodic re-evaluations
- Participates in case conferences involving cooperation with other pupil personnel workers, school personnel, and community agencies
- Provides individual and group therapy/counseling services to students and families
- Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients treatment
- Develops and implements treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge
- Collaborates with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans
- Counsels family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients
- Evaluates the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients progress in resolving identified problems and moving toward defined objectives
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of current state law/regulations regarding high school proficiency standards
- Leadership skills in working with individuals and groups
Ability to prepare social and family histories and cooperate on the formulation of committee reports - Social work case reporting and writing skills
- Ability to counsel students, parents, staff, and lay persons individually and in groups
- Skills in conducting effective meetings and conferences
Qualification & Experience:
- Possession of a Masters degree in counseling or social work or related field
- Three years’ experience in the behavioral health plan process including direct services, developing and monitoring behavioral support plans, treatment plans, monitoring progress, and termination of services
- Experience providing training to parents, school district staff, and/or community-based organizations
- Valid license by the California Board of Behavioral Science as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, or a Licensed Educational Psychologist or equivalent
- Experience and knowledge of special education programs and working with individuals with exceptional needs
- Appropriate credential authorizing Pupil Personnel Services – School Social Worker (K-12)
