Job Description:
The Engineering Directorate at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center is seeking candidates to serve as a Materials Engineer across their organizations. This position includes the development, evaluation, selection, and application of advanced structural materials to aerospace systems such as aircraft and spacecraft structures and their power and propulsion systems ** This vacancy has been amended to extend the closing date from 06/18/2021 to 06/21/2021.**
Job Responsibilities:
- In addition to the basic education requirement (shown below), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
- To qualify for GS-07, you must have:
Job Requirements:
- Utilizing calculations and scientific techniques for testing, evaluating and integration of advanced structural materials to determine viability of advanced structural materials for aerospace systems, aircraft or spacecraft structures and their power and propulsion systems;
- Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field
- Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b) and c) above
Experience and Qualifications:
- Completed 3 full academic years of graduate education in an appropriate field
- Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b) and c) above To qualify for GS-11, you must have:
- You must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level researching and resolving engineering related problems; performing calculations or computer simulations to predict material properties over time and under various environmental conditions and stressors;
