Job Description:

Under supervision, on a temporary or seasonal basis only, to provide visitor services including: routine public contact work; responding to questions from the public on State Park System rules and regulations; maintaining State Park facilities in a clean and orderly fashion; and to do other related work.

Job Responsibilities:

• Sells tickets; computes and collects fees; assigns campsites; accounts for funds; answers questions of the visiting public, gives directions, and explains park rules and regulations; assists with public information and educational programs, such as campfire programs, nature walks, junior ranger programs, and museum counterwork; assists visitors; makes camp checks; reports violations; administers first aid; operates light vehicles; accounts for supplies and equipment used in the operation of facilities; and keeps State Park facilities, restrooms, and equipment clean and orderly.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to: Communicate at a level required for successful job performance; follow directions; compute fees, make change, and balance cash; learn work procedures and park rules and regulations quickly; perform varied manual tasks; meet the public successfully.
• When driving is a requirement of the position: Possession of a valid driver license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
