The North Carolina Department of Administration is seeking applicants for an Administrative Specialist I (working title: Warehouse Specialist I) in our Facility Management Division located in Raleigh, NC. The primary purpose of this position is to support warehouse functions for the requisition, receipt, and disbursement of maintenance materials. This position involves receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, ordering stocked items, dispersing materials, and analysis and verification of data posted to work orders and service requests. This position will function as a primary user responsible for AssetWorks computer software, business solutions for inventory which includes warehousing functions supported by AssetWorks. At times, this position will also support the reception desk and Work Control. The hours of this position will be from 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday. Division/ Department Overview The Department of Administration serves as the business manager for North Carolina state government and provides leadership to state government agencies for the effective, efficient, economical and equitable delivery of services to the public. The department also provides assistance and services to several advocacy programs that serve diverse segments of the state’s population that have traditionally been underserved. The agency’s mission directs departmental efforts to: acquire, develop and maintain properties and facilities; create and operate an efficient system to purchase and dispose of goods and services to meet the needs of government agencies; provide excellent operational services to state employees; achieve fair and equitable opportunities and representation for various segments of the population that have special needs; and to provide administrative support to independent state government agencies. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION THAT CLEARLY REFLECTS WORK EXPERIENCE THAT DEMONSTRATES THE FOLLOWING:Strong customer service skills.Considerable knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to warehouse operations.Ability to work in a warehouse environment which includes receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, dispersing materials.Considerable knowledge of requisitioning materials and supplies and following purchasing guidelines. Maintains a perpetual inventory through daily data input per items received, disbursed and or returned.Considerable knowledge of cycle counting process to insure inventory control and accuracy. Determines the cause of inventory discrepancies and notify responsible area for corrective action.Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information; ability to apply knowledge of data collection, storage, organization, manipulation and/or analysis of data.Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs.Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure. SPECIAL NOTE:Employee is required to wear a uniform, use safety equipment and follow safety regulations which are provided by the state. Candidate must present proof of a valid NC Driver’s License and proof of an acceptable driving record. This position requires standing for long periods of time and performing manual labor which involves possessing physical strength to handle and lift heavy objects weighing up to 75 lbs. on a frequent basis. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
