Job Description:

Serve as lead worker to support Accounts Receivable Director with training, guidance, and assignment of university accounts receivable duties. Provide a wide range of accounts receivable functions that include the processing of contract and monthly billings, coordinating daily ACH receipts, completing Federal and State Return to Title IV calculations, processing waivers related to academic withdrawals and tuition refund appeals, and setting up semester tuition & fees and special course fees tables in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MinnState) Integrated Statewide Records System (ISRS) to ensure accurate student account billings and related University revenue account records. Audit and review transactions entered by Accounts Receivable (AR) staff; determine and update necessary charge corrections. Assist Accounts Receivable Director with identifying and resolving problems as well as analyzing policies and procedures to maintain compliance with university, system, state and federal guidelines.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to interpret and accurately apply all relevant federal, state, system and institutional laws and policies to accounts receivable department procedures.
  • Demonstrated strengths in customer service and professional workplace communications.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices sufficient to compile, analyze and interpret fiscal data.
  • Ability to prepare, explain and interpret complex fiscal reports and information for routine financial reporting and program compliance audit purposes.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent math and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and diverse working and learning environment.
  • Familiarity with federal and state financial aid programs, particularly how student eligibility is impacted by changes in enrollment.
  • Post secondary coursework in accounting, finance, business management or similar programs.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience working in a public college or university accounts receivable department.
  • Direct experience using MinnState ISRS Accounts Receivable module screens and reports.
  • Experience generating Microsoft Access queries and reports.
  • Direct experience using MinnState General Ledger Accounting module screens and reports.
