Description of Job

This position is a day shift position. The duty hours are Monday – Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, or 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Information About The Job

As a Custodian I, this position is responsible for performing general custodial duties; and is responsible for cleaning offices, classrooms, labs, hallways, lounges, and restrooms. Duties include disinfecting restrooms and drinking fountains; restocking soap and paper products in dispensers; washing entrance windows; cleaning chalkboards, trays and erasers; reporting insect and rodent infestation; emptying and cleaning waste containers and disposing trash in the dumpster; dusting or washing furniture; sweeping, dusting, damp mopping, and vacuuming in all areas and moving furniture and removing snow from walk when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications (must be specifically demonstrated on application):

Six (6) months of fill-time custodial, laundry, or general labor experience in a professional work setting.

A Successful candidate will demonstrate responsible professional conduct at all times; will be punctual and observe schedule work hours; will not abuse leave an will follow call-in procedures. The successful candidate will also follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment, when required. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate his/her ability to communicate/converse effectively with others (customers, peers and supervisors) in English.

Necessary Special Requirements

All positions with AHEC require a background check. YOU MUST successfully complete a pre-employment background check as a condition of hire. Submission of your application provides AHEC authorization to run a background check.
All offers of employment for this position are contingent upon the successful passing of a job-related physical examination by a licensed medical provider. Failure to pass this examination will result in the removal from the eligible list for this position.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Effective September 1, 2021, employees may be required to attest to and verify that they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, or, submit to twice-weekly serial testing. Upon Hire, new employees will have three (3) business days to provide attestation to their status with proof of vaccination, or begin twice-weekly serial testing for COVID-19.
The person selected for this position must maintain his/her ability to stand for long periods of time as well as kneel, stoop, crouch, reach and grab in the performance of job-related duties.
This person selected for this position must maintain his/her ability to perform the physical demands of this position which include physical manipulating and moving furniture and supplies in excess of 10 lbs. on a frequent basis as well as 20 lbs. to 50 lbs (occasionally).
Must be willing and able to withstand exposure to dust and fumes associated with cleaning agents and custodial work.
Must be willing and able to be exposed to adverse weather while performing snow removal duties in front of building entry/exit ways (as needed).
