Job Description:

This position is located in the Cyber and Technology Security Directorate, Office of Technology Innovation and Engineering, Emerging Technology Division, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical guidance and assistance to Federal and contract staff in conducting investigations into physical /hardware and operating system/software applications; creating or negating potential pathways for the loss of sensitive information.
  • Provides expertise and knowledge to evaluate IT products submitted to ITCCB; keeps abreast of advancing developments in IT security profiles to provide insightful recommendations to management that will contribute to the Department’s objectives.
  • Reviews and edits test plan and hardware evaluation reports, memorandums, and presentations/briefings submitted by branch personnel, assuring that documentations are in compliance with all applicable policies.
  • Prepares test plan and hardware evaluations reports, memorandums, and presentations/briefings as required.
  • Serves as a member of the Division’s IT Change Control Board (ITCCB) review team as part of a holistic, division-wide approach incorporating both hardware and software analysis.

Job Requirements:

  • One year probationary period, unless excepted by regulation.
  • Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Verification of employment eligibility in the United States is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
  • Experience providing technical guidance and advising management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
  • Experience reviewing proposed new IT systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks and recommending mitigation and/or countermeasures to management.
  • Experience documenting and assessing IT systems adherence to policies and guidance while making recommendations to resolve security related issues.
