Job Description:
The Maintenance Specialist will be involved in solving equipment and tooling problems on a daily basis in order to improve SpaceX asset availability. This will include setting up processes and systems to ensure equipment reliability of up to 98%. SpaceX doesn’t shut down production for maintenance, and instead we find ways to predict failures and perform the maintenance without interrupting production. This role will require direct work with the engineers and technicians who design and build unique machines and perform risk analysis together to map out the maintenance strategy and find the best condition monitoring systems to monitor the performance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate, advise and support manufacturing teams on complex problem resolution
- Calculate key performance indicators such as mean time between failures, mean time to repair, planned downtime, etc. Interpret this data and understand the factors influencing the metrics to further improve asset uptime and maintenance efficiency and effectiveness
- Setting up asset maintenance strategies using risk based and reliability centered maintenance methodologies
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair control devices such as PLC’s, HMI’s, CNC controls from various manufacturers
- Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on assets to ensure their proper operating condition
- Track and maintain calibrated measurement devices to required specifications
- Identify and maintain critical spare strategy
- Perform root cause analysis to inform future improvements and strategies
- Maintain asset documentation and preventative maintenance plans in a proprietary MRP/ERP system
Job Requirements:
- Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, systems, or manufacturing engineering
- Strong analytical and written skills
- Experience or proven ability with continuous improvement or Lean programs
- Experience in maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, process controls and controls systems
- Self-starting, able to identify areas for improvement with minimal direction
- Detail oriented, organized, and demonstrate a high sense of urgency
- Millwright skills and abilities and industrial multi-craft and mechanical trades
- Experience developing preventative maintenance plans and identify critical spares
- Extreme trouble shooting and problem-solving skill sets
