Job Description:

Become an Environmental Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll support either Distribution utility line projects or Vegetation Management projects. The Senior Specialist position performs technical evaluation and resource area management for projects to ensure environmental compliance. The position may advise or participate as a team member during project implementation and decisions to support on-time and on budget project delivery while maintaining environmental compliance. This position supports Environmental Program and Project Managers with compliance analysis and reporting. The position may also provide project management for smaller scale programs that require environmental analysis and oversight.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage consultant scope, budget, and invoicing and work with contractors to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Interact with Operations and Environmental Services staff to implement technical resource compliance strategies on projects in alignment with operating processes.
  • Perform technical analysis and implement environmental compliance for projects coordinating with project teams, agency peers, and
  • Environmental Services management to provide on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary technical teams and external consultants to perform environmental analysis supporting project development, permitting and implementation.
  • Contribute to development of technical resource area processes and/or guidance for projects to ensure consistency and standardization of resource impact analysis and compliance implementation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in providing interpretation of environmental regulations and rules that affect the environmental review process for projects.
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams (e.g. engineers, field crews) to address issues and solve problems to advance projects.
  • Manages external consultants to maintain performance expectations and ensure accurate, high quality, timely deliverables.

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Five (5) years’ experience with environmental compliance and permitting.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental resource compliance, or management discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience with environmental compliance and permitting.
