The Interconnect Technologies Department is looking for a Component Engineer to join their diverse and passionate team of high performing individuals striving to achieve success while making a difference for our nation’s security. The Engineer’s principal responsibility will be the design, development, and qualification of complex cables and related interconnect components for high consequence applications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of design engineers, systems engineers, quality engineers, and subject matter experts in the successful execution of mission critical designs
- Provide electrical evaluation and technical analysis on large amounts of electrical test data
- Develop and implement electrical solutions to cable assemblies and interconnect challenges in complex systems
- Implement sound electrical engineering principles on high-reliability and high-consequence cable assemblies and interconnects
- Collaborate with Production Agencies to incorporate defect prevention and design for manufacturability
- Write technical reports, perform cost estimates, work technical issues, and present results/findings
- Develop and implement electrical acceptance criteria for cable assemblies and interconnects
- Team with system engineers and system-level stakeholders to establish electrical component-level requirements
- Investigate and lead technologists in troubleshooting interconnects and their corresponding test equipment
- Provide quality products with supporting qualification evidence that satisfy customer requirements within cost/schedule constraints
- Design and develop electrical parameters for cable assemblies, interconnects, and electrical components to meet system-level requirements and function through program life environments
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated oral, written, and presentation communication skills
- Knowledge of the NWC drawing and Engineering Authorization system
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance
- Printed Circuit Board design experience
- Knowledge of the Nuclear Weapons Complex’s (NWC’s) product realization, design, production, and qualification processes
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or applicable STEM discipline) and 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of ND drawing requirements (CDs, MEs, PSs, SSs, etc.)
- Experience in the application of engineering principles and manufacturing methods
