Primary Purpose

Processes requests by customers and consumers to access their personal information and third parties requesting access to SDG&E customer information, in accordance with state and federal law. Administers and provides first tier application support of the company’s enterprise privacy controls to internal and external users. Develops requirements, facilitates/conducts Business Domain testing, and provides training to ensure that privacy solutions reflect the functionality necessary to address business goals and objectives. Under the guidance of Office of Customer Privacy (OCP) Advisor’s, identifies, develops and implements effective technology and business process solutions that address moderately complex initiatives.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day administration of all company processes related to receiving, analyzing, preparing and fulfilling data subject requests for personal information; disclosing customer data to third parties, including Privacy GreenLight, Letters of Authorization and similar processes. Includes the intake of new requests, validating form accuracy, validating third parties and ensuring all policy and legal compliance requirements for disclosure are met. Analyzes work products and corroborates results with production systems, data custodians, Information Technology (IT) and other roles to make sure consumers and third parties are receiving accurate, timely data, and only the data required to perform the required function.
  • Supports Office of Customer Privacy Advisors in the development of new privacy controls and enhancement of existing controls by developing and analyzing requirements for enhancing and improving automated technologies and processes and testing new implementations. Performs consumer personal information discovery, inventory and data steward attestation at the direction of the advisors. Includes data analysis of privacy controls and consumer personal information, modeling and process analysis as part of requirements facilitation for development and improvement of privacy controls. Models systems and data to a logical level, user interface design and prototyping, decision tables/trees, data flows, modeling and processes using various notation (use cases, class diagrams, activity diagrams, business process modeling notation.) Acts as backup to advisors as needed for projects implementing privacy controls.
  • Educates, trains and assists third parties, customers, and other departments involved in customer and consumer data disclosure processes. Advocates for and educates the business on enterprise privacy controls. Assists in the development, publication and implementation of training related to privacy practices and to ensure the proper operation of privacy controls.
  • Follows and improves on department processes and procedures. Drafts and maintains written documentation including processes and procedures related to privacy controls and departmental practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma/GED
  • 2 years’ experience performing data analysis, risk analysis, privacy or compliance related work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, computer science, government, cyber security, privacy, auditing, or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • Business Analysis or related certification .
  • Detail oriented and committed to a high level of accuracy. Advanced
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills required. Intermediate
  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal and consultative skills required. Intermediate
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint required. Intermediate

  • Knowledge of business; process, roles/responsibility, privacy and energy industry required. Intermediate
  • Knowledge of project management in the areas of requirements development, business domain testing and training required. Beginner
  • Ability to write unambiguous, verified requirements to a testable level (functional and non-functional requirements). Beginner
  • Some knowledge of testing methodology and tools. Beginner
  • Data analysis and organization modeling skills required. Beginner
  • Training, facilitation and/or organizational skills required. Beginner
  • Requirements workshops/interviews/observation skills preferred. Beginner
  • Intermediate working knowledge of the application/execution of all privacy laws related to customer information disclosure, including the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), PUC 8380, CPUC D.14-05-016, D.11-07-056, building benchmarking (AB802). Intermediate
