Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary liaison between the Authority and the community; assess community values, issues, and concerns to elevate and coordinate as appropriate throughout the organization; remain up to date on current community, local and governmental issues.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage a comprehensive legislative program to advance the Authority’s mission and goals; serve as a liaison between the
  • Authority and local, state, and federal government agencies and offices.
  • Provide leadership and works with staff to create a high performance, service-oriented work environment.
  • As assigned by the department director, provide representation of the Authority’s position in regional forums and with other federal, state, and local governmental officials; prepare presentations, talking points, and briefing materials for senior staff and board members.
  • Monitor and analyze assessments of impacts to the Authority of proposed local, state, and federal legislation, regulations, and other public policy initiatives; propose revisions/amendments or new legislation/resolutions consistent with the needs and interests of the Authority; draft position papers and public testimony.
  • Obtain letters and other indications of support from elected officials and community leaders for Authority initiatives and other proposals that may impact the organization; fulfills the Authority’s legislative and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Agility – Readily adapts behavior and work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • At least six years of progressively responsible experience in legislative analysis or intergovernmental affairs.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in public or business administration, political science, public policy, or a closely related field.
