Job Description:

This is a very fun, creative, exciting position that allows you to create cutting-edge digital interpretive materials in a very flexible work environment. You will be part of a team of fun, creative, and outgoing individuals working in a supportive environment creating materials for use by very diverse audiences. You will also have the ability to interact with and support scientific staff providing your expertise to help them present their information in a cohesive and engaging manner. This position will help you fill out your professional portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Interpretive Services Supervisor, this position creates and updates digital interpretive tools for use in several region-wide programs including Fishing in the City, Classroom Aquarium Education Program, Yolo Basin Wildlife Area, and the Sandhill Crane Tours at Woodbridge Ecological Reserve. You will work with a variety of platforms, be involved in video production, create presentations and display materials, and much more.
  • This position is ideal for a student as you will set your own hours. Hours are flexible as your school demands change.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with project lead electronically (e.g., e-mail, Skype and/or Microsoft Teams video conferencing).
  • Please provide the following Driver’s License (DL) information on a separate piece of paper.  Name as stated on license, issuing state, DL number, class, and expiration.
  • This is a non-testing Classification, therefore, anyone meeting the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification may apply for this position. Individuals in specific programs, such as the Welfare to Work Program, are encouraged to apply and will be given priority according to the applicable Laws and Rules. Please note on your application your current participation in these programs.

  • Technology skills needed to perform task (will vary by project)
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with modest supervision, and complete projects on a timely basis
  • Able to visualize new ways to reach target audiences through technology
  • Skill to create innovative products
  • Skill to receive and evaluate feedback and make modifications as needed
  • Adept at video creation and editing
  • Knowledge and Education: Six (6) units course-work in Interpretive theory/application; knowledge of theory and application of interpretation; and understanding of freshwater ecosystems.
  • Skill to communicate effectively with the public, community partners, and volunteers
