Job Responsibilities:
- Advanced understanding of reading prints and determine how to isolate protection circuits without jeopardizing critical equipment
- Ability to respond to minor call outs
- Can organize construction and maintenance work and create over all implementation/maintenance plans
- Ability to perform infrared scanning substation equipment
- Can assist with the installation of portable/mobile substations/transformers or other temporary equipment
- Advanced understanding of AC and DC circuit principles
- Demonstrate the ability to methodically/logically organize substation work activities
- Adheres to Duke policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements (NERC and/or SERC), properly and accurately documents test results
- with a timely completion
- Can lead small and low risk maintenance or construction projects
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of company safety rules and work practices
- Basic understanding of power factor, winding resistance, circuit breaker timing, and leakage reactance testing and interpret results
- Demonstrates the ability to complete maintenance/construction activities on all substation equipment including but not limited to switches,
- circuit breakers, transformers, regulators, PT’s, CT’s, CCVT’s and grounding systems
- Demonstrates the ability to complete the requirements for Switching and Tagging on both the Transmission and Distribution systems
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of Human Performance practices
- Demonstrate the ability to operate bucket, digger derrick truck other areal devices
- Basic understanding of substation equipment isolation and clearances and grounding practices
- Demonstrate the ability to safely lead small jobs and work independent of direct leadership
- Clear understanding of regulatory compliance and the importance for accurate data and timely completion of assigned work
- Understands limitations, never assumes, and will STOP to seek help
Job Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience or training (e.g. military)
- Software skills including word process, email, spreadsheets etc.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment with individuals from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
- Basic written and oral communication skills
- Must be capable of working on elevated work surfaces
