Job Description:

Coordinate and manage daily operations at the Northern Colorado Law Enforcement Training Center and support training activities hosted by the training center, as prescribed by the Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Rules and Regulations. Ensure safe, efficient and effective use of training facilities by monitoring user activities and apply appropriate policies and procedures through positive interaction and involvement with staff. Perform a wide variety of administrative, clerical, maintenance and other support functions in coordination with the Training Center Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the activities of Lead Instructors, Safety Officers and other facility staff, as defined in the Standard Operating Procedures. Provide guidance and technical direction when required.
  • Perform essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances training center attributes.
  • Assist in the prevention of conflicts and significant injury or property damage at the training center through diligence in performing the following duties:
  • Perform all duties related to check-in of all owner and non-owner agency use, including assisting with the set-up and tear down of training areas, if required.
  • Inspection of the classrooms, conference rooms, reception area, and common areas.
  • Inspection of the firing range facility to include baffles, ballistic walls, lighting, targeting system, bullet traps, air flow system, etc.
  • Educate users on the Range Safety Rules and Track & Skills Pad Safety Rules.
  • Take appropriate action when observing any violation of Safety Rules or other Rules and Regulations.
  • Provide direct support to all Lead Instructors.
  • Provide on-site direction to and supervision of any volunteers / interns serving at the training center.
  • Ensure compliance with emergency safety protocols in the event of a life-threatening injury or incident of significant property damage at the training center.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when applicable and according to department directives.
  • Written communication skills including proper spelling, punctuation, grammar and proper terminology/verbiage sufficient to complete required forms and reports and develop correspondence in standard business format.
  • Use a variety of computer programs within Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In depth working knowledge of data entry standards in order to produce complete and high-quality reports and statistics utilized by the training center, other city departments and the community for a variety of purposes.
  • Experience in any of the following: law enforcement or other similar work related to safety operations on a firing range or management experience as a firing range or driving skills instructor is highly desirable.

Job Qualification:

  • An Associate’s Degree from an accredited educational institution preferred.
  • An additional three (3) years’ related work experience is required.
  • Experience with law enforcement functions, training or facilities is highly preferred.
