Description Of Duties And Essential Functions

The Houston Health Department is actively searching for a skilled individual to perform the following essential functions of a Senior Inventory Management Clerk.

The Functions Are But Not Limited To

Distribution of supplies for warehouse and testing sites. Mobilize and Demobilize testing sites.
Oversee and maintain warehouses and storage areas in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition. Ensure safety and security of materials, supplies, and property.
Perform periodic physical inventory counts and reconciles counts with inventory records.
Handle internal and external messenger services for the Houston Health Department.
Handle priority mail, document pickups, and deliveries for the department.
Maintain a clean and organized postage processing area.
Manage and assist with set up and breakdown of all COVID-19 testing and vaccine sites.
Lead and manage delivery specimens to the Laboratory
Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS

The position requires lifting of heavy items of up to 60 pounds and/or walking on rough surfaces routinely and/or regular physical exertion such as climbing of ladders. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a High school diploma or GED.

Experience Requirements

Two (2) years of inventory control, materials management, or record keeping experience are required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized or non-motorized materials handling equipment.

License Requirements

A Valid Texas Driver’s License and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving.

PREFERENCES

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

None. However, the department may administer a skill assessment evaluation.

If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test.

SALARY INFORMATION GRANT FUND POSITION

Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate’s qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.

Pay Grade 12
