Job Description:
These positions are open to the general public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City’s collective bargaining agreement with American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)- BARGAINING UNIT1, 3, 4 & 5.
Job Responsibilities:
- Duties: Under supervision, performs entry-level professional library work. Assists library patrons in using facility resources and provides information, reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons using both print and electronic resources. Assists library patrons with internet research and basic computer assistance. Assists in developing and administering library programs and services such as book discussions, library orientation, and community events. Establishes and maintains working relationships with community organizations to promote library services. Assists with collection maintenance. Promotes library programs, services and exhibits. Compiles and maintains records and reports of library activities and inventories. Assists with all customer service desk duties. May supervise the work of library associates, library pages and clerical staff. Works as part of a team to meet city and library goals. Participates in professional development. Interprets the Library’s policies and procedures to the public in a customer friendly manner. Upholds the Library’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Performs related duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited American Library Association college or university with a Master’s degree in Library Science or an approved foreign credential evaluation.
