Job Description:

Depending on the qualifications of the applicant(s) selected, this may be a temporary promotion, NTE 120 days or a detail with the possibility of an extension(s), not to exceed 1 year

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide or coordinate training and instructions to staff on available CRS and Library resources.
• Oversee a variety of research and instruction operations such as research inquiries, Library tutorials, and customer service.

Job Requirements:

• The Knowledge Services Group of the Congressional Research Service (CRS) is offering an opportunity for a qualified Librarian to serve on a full-time, detail or temporary promotion as a Reference & Instruction Librarian.  More than one applicant may be selected to serve on a rotating basis.
• The successful candidate(s) will gain excellent work experience in reference and research services, and coordinate an information resource instruction program to ensure CRS staff are aware of information resources available.
• Ability to assist in preparing research guides, finding aids and other products that connect researchers to the Library’s collections, services and programs using library applications and discovery tools.
• Ability to utilize computer technology (e.g., Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel).
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
