Job Description:

Under the direction of the administrator of the Fiscal Oversight and Support Office and working with a collaborative team, this position works to support the fiscal health of local educational agencies (LEA) in California. This position advises and assists local educational agencies (LEAs) in strengthening and improving their fiscal management practices; works closely with high level school district and county office of education (COE) administrators in addressing and resolving both policy and technical issues affecting the business and financial services of educational agencies; and develops comparative data to identify potential financial difficulties and assist COEs and school districts with local decision-making.

The person in this position will demonstrate expertise in the areas of school district accounting, budgeting, and reporting policies and procedures and how these issues relate to and affect the delivery of educational programs and services to students.

Job Responsibilities:

• Contribute to reports describing conditions of fiscally distressed LEAs.
• Review and analyze proposed legislation.
• Conduct assignments related to federal laws regarding fiscal accountability for LEAs.
• Review county office of education budgets, interim reports, and Local Control and Accountability Plans (LCAP).
• Assess the fiscal condition of LEAs.
• Additional duties related to fiscal oversight.
• Maintain forms for the Standardized Account Code Structure (SACS) software.
• Provide school fiscal and accounting support to LEAs.
