Job Description And Duties
Under the general direction of the Warden, the Executive Assistant provides a high level of confidential administrative and secretarial services and analytical support on sensitive departmental and program issues in the management of the institution. The majority of duties are carried out independently, utilizing a high level of initiative and sound decision making skills.
All Other Duties As Required.
Pursuant to the Public Health Orders ( Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings and State and Local Correctional Facilities and Detention Centers Health Care Worker Vaccination Requirement ) issued by the California Department of Public Health and the directive Mandatory COVID – 19 Vaccines and Testing for Institution Staff issued by the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR), all staff assigned to this post/position may be required to show evidence of full vaccination and booster for COVID-19, absent an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation precluding them from vaccination.

Kern Valley State Prison is currently canvassing for Executive Assistant.
One vacancy and any other Permanent vacancies that may occur during the life of the certification list.
All hires are subject to Hiring Freeze and/or Budget Approval. This position will be filled with established hiring restrictions and may require the position to be filled on a Limited Term basis with the possibility of being extended and/or becoming Permanent/Full-Time.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined a candidate does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department testing on an annual basis thereafter.
