Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:
- Operate electrical and gas welding equipment to join a variety of metals and alloys
- Inspect railcar frames and bodies for holes, cracks, and other defects
- Operate acetylene/MAPP torches for cutting and/or shaping metal parts
- Inspect safety appliances including hand holds, sill steps, grab iron, brake platforms, running boards
- Maintain, replace and repair air brake pipes, valves, gaskets, air hoses and other air related equipment
- Inspect wheels to ensure that rim treads, plates, hub axles, and bearings are in good repair
Job Requirements:
- Ability to report for duty at the designated work location
- Able to work the above shift/hours
- Ability to use hands and use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling
- Ability to visually distinguish colors – red, blue, green, yellow, lunar (clear light)
- Ability to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English
- Able to work safely in the above working conditions
- Ability to occasionally work from various heights including making repairs on top of railcars
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance
- Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment
- Follow safety policies and procedures; wear the required personal protective equipment
- Ability to bend, walk, stand and sit occasionally with breaks
- Ability to climb ladders and get on/off equipment
- Possess valid driver’s license
- At least18 years of age, or will be by the start date listed above
